The Cars -Greatest Hits
The Cars knocked us down with their all time greatest hit 'Drive'. I first heard that in a cassette I bought in Guwahati in 1986, a small shop, where I had gone with D. Suresh, who knew his music. Suresh told me to go for it and it became one of the most listened to tape I ever had with hits like 'Careless Whispers', 'Drive' and so many more hits.

Every single time the lights dimmed and a drink was poured, I'd play Drive and me and Shobhs listened to it a thousand times. It got into every single soft music tape of mine and I taped it for countless friends.
But there are a couple more. I really loved 'Magic' and even 'You might think'. Both fine numbers.

I guess I should dedicate this to Suresh who introduced me to the brilliant tape in Guwahati where we had gone to play South Zone Under 22 championships. Seven of us from Hyderabad - Ehtesham, Suresh, Rajesh, Zakir, Venkatapathi, Me and Masood. We were there for 15 days and lost the three-day tournament and beat a star-studded North Zone - Ajay Sharma, Sanjeev Sharma, Manu Nayyar - in the one-day final. The girls were so beautiful in Guwahati just as Nishi Mukherjee warmed me. he actually told me - don't get married - they're so beautiful. One pineapple seller almost made away with my heart on the route to Shillong with her sweet pineapples and rosy cheeks but our manager Srinivasan pulled me back in time. We had a final to play.
This one for you Suresh.
