Duran Duran - Greatest
I think the first number I heard of Duran Duran was 'Rio'. They were this stylish band and perhaps I saw their posters in 'Sun' or 'Jetset' and was impressed enough to buy a cassette or borrow one. Apart from 'Rio' the songs that made an impression on me were 'Hungry like a wolf', 'Save a prayer' and 'Is there something I should know'. I did not much understand the rest of their music.
But when I see their videos I can see that there is some political message they were conveying.
Then, "Hungry like a Wolf"
Save a Prayer
Loved the fact that they shot the last video in Sri Lanka and on Sigiriya Rock.
The one memory of Duran Duran is of writing down the names of a few tapes I wanted to buy when I was in IDBI and one of my clients Satish Reddy coming over and seeing that list and buying me a couple of CDs. It was delicate but he was like - dude don't make an issue - I like this music too and would like to share it and its not like a bribe or anything. ZZ Top he gave me I remember, and I gave it to Anil who liked that group more than I did.
But they were stylish and had a very different sound and will always be remembered.
