Hot 100 Vol 7

This was a cassette I picked up on the 12th of September 1985. We had gone to Madras to play Buchi Babu tournament and as always I decided to spend my little saving on music. My advisors on which tape to buy were Vidyuth and Rahul Lingam, then a young little kid. Since I did not know many groups that were on the cassette I was very apprehensive. But they urged me to buy it and I did.

It took a while for me to get a hang of these groups but when I did I realised it was a treasure trove. 'Some Like it Hot' by Power Station, 'I was born to love you' by Freddie Mercury, 'That was yesterday' by Foreigner, 'One Lonely Night' by REO Speedwagon and 'One More Night' by Phil Collins. The last four were brilliant ballads. I have spent many nights listening to 'One Lonely Night', 'One More Night' and 'That was yesterday'.

On side B there was 'Everybody wants to rule the world' by Tears for Fears, 'So far away' by Dire Straits, 'Would I lie to you' by Eurythmics and 'You're my heart and you're my soul' by Modern Talking.

Foreigner, Tears for Fears, REO Speedwagon, Modern Talking were all new groups for me and I loved listening to those numbers.

Without doubt, this is dedicated to another of my music pals Vidyuth Jaisimha, for urging me to pick this one up and helping me progress in my musical journey by leaps and bounds. And this tape, will forever bring me memories of a time when I was just taking off on my cricket career, was in my second year of Engineering, and life seemed full of laughter, fun and possibilities and nothing could go wrong. It was a brilliant time and so this tape will always remain a cherished favorite.
