Hearts of Gold - The Rock Collection

1991. We were in Patna, on training with BPCL. One day after the training was done we four - Aditi, Gopi, Priya and me - walked into a shopping complex bang in the middle of Patna. I was in a good mood and searched high and low for a cassette to pick and I picked two - this and Lambada. I suspect I was trying to impress Aditi then who I suspected was already quite impressed with me.

So I looked at the list of groups in this assorted album and found Pink Floyd, Foreigner, Cheap Trick, Bruce Springsteen. There was a moment in the evening sun when Aditi and I checked the songs on the cassette and I think there was a moment we shared. One rare one with no conflict.

Freebird - Lynnard Skynnard - Nice!

I must confess that apart from 'I shot the sheriif' which never impressed me, I had not heard of any other song. I had heard of the groups though and knew they were biggies. So I went ahead and bought it. Maybe I should listen to the songs now.

Hot blooded - Foreigner

I liked this.

Ramblin Man - Allman Brothers Band - loved it!

Badlands - Bruce Springsteen
Money - Pink Floyd
I want you to want me - Cheap Trick
Can't get enough - Bad Company
Carry on wayward son - Kansas
Love the one your with - Stephen Stills
I shot the Sherrif - Eric Clapton

The cassette was compiled for the TJ Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS research and is funded by musicians, song writers etc. So by buying the cassette I received a note from the Foundation for having done my bit.

Dedicated to who else but Aditi! I will still find her someday soon.
